Poor Kids Don’t Eat Real Food

January 4, 2012 Katrina RyderFull of Fruit

Since many of us are in the process of purging our 2012 pantries of all those terrible, no-good, very bad substances like hydrogenation and high-fructose corn syrup, I’ve heard one question repeated on Facebook and the blogosphere. “What do I do with all this unhealthy stuff I’m getting rid of? Should I just go ahead…Continue reading Poor Kids Don’t Eat Real Food

Ten Steps to Eating Poorganically in 2012

January 2, 2012 Katrina RyderLiving Poorganically

Okay folks, since your ham is congealing in the fridge, your body is suffering the glug of perpetual eating, and your wallet is a thin as your patience, I thought we all could use a reminder about  Eating Poorganically! I know that I am definitely ready to get back on my own bandwagon! The word…Continue reading Ten Steps to Eating Poorganically in 2012

2011 Save to Give Wrap up and PRIZE!

December 31, 2011 Katrina RyderFull of Fruit

At the beginning of the year, I made a little challenge for our family to try to give away as much as we saved/spent on consumables like groceries and household items.  I called this the “Save to Give Challenge.” Today I finally tallied up ALL the mountains of receipts that I had been accumulating since…Continue reading 2011 Save to Give Wrap up and PRIZE!

The Naughty List

December 15, 2011 Katrina RyderLiving Poorganically

I haven’t been posting as much lately because, well. . . Christmas doesn’t exactly inspire increased interest in frugal living and healthful eating.  Three weeks from now, I’m sure more of you will be logging on for resolutions, but right now, that sort of thing would just be irritating, right?  Anyone want a lecture on…Continue reading The Naughty List

Poorganic Popcorn

December 7, 2011 Katrina RyderLiving Poorganically

Truthfully, Eating Poorganically has been a bit tricky in the snack food category. But, thanks to my brilliant friend Megan, I’ve recently learned a new AMAZING recipe for DIY microwave popcorn that absolutely tastes delicious and is not going to give me (or you) arteriosclerosis. But, I’ll be honest. I feel a little bad because…Continue reading Poorganic Popcorn

Caught You Blue-Handed

December 5, 2011November 30, 2015 Katrina RyderNutty

Anika (rhymes with Monica) is now such a big girl that we’ve gotten rid of her crib and gotten her a “big girl bed.”  Despite her physical maturity, however, she is still annoyingly babyish and refuses to actually sleep in aforementioned “big girl bed.” Every bedtime or nap, she climbs out, lays on the floor…Continue reading Caught You Blue-Handed

Poorganic’s Not Organic

December 1, 2011 Katrina RyderLiving Poorganically

When I was a wee little girl of 9 or 10, I had a penchant for making up words. One that sticks in my mind is “geniously.”  Oh, that’s such a geniously plan. Or Wow, that is a geniously idea. Or You are such a geniously friend. One day on the way home from school,…Continue reading Poorganic’s Not Organic

A Quick One

November 27, 2011December 4, 2015 Katrina RyderNutty

Standing in the kitchen cleaning up the other night, the ProvidinaTOR says to me, “So it’s almost the anniversary.” He looks at me with one eyebrow raised. I smile, thinking to myself, “Wow, that’s pretty amazing that he thought of it in advance.” We met in 2000 at a Christmas cantata where I was singing…Continue reading A Quick One

The Green Eyed Monster versus Thanksgiving

November 23, 2011 Katrina RyderFull of Fruit

This is a post from Thanksgiving 2010 that deserved a rewarming. 🙂 Enjoy! (Also, I was still blogging as The Low Ryder then.) In prep for the holidays, I’m not blogging as much because of busyness.  Also because my simplicity and frugality strokes of genius, when shared, would spoil the gifts for my recipients, my…Continue reading The Green Eyed Monster versus Thanksgiving

About me

Hi! I'm Katrina. I'm married to an elementary school music teacher and am mom to three busy teenagers. Although I dream of being a writer, I keep busy substitute teaching, directing Shakespeare plays, teaching homeschool classes and working seasonally at a local u-pick farm. These days my blog is mostly a venue for information about my homeschool classes, but the archives contain my old posts about faith, finances, food, and family. I also have archives of The Poorganic Life food blog and You Go Girl! studies. I love Jesus, my family, libraries, audiobooks, Harry Potter, talking about the Enneagram, gardening, Hamilton, and eating crusty bread.

Where’s the one about . . .?
