This week has been a doozy with snow and ice and strep, so I am just going to cut to the chase since this post is already late.
I’m not doing so great keeping a positive tone. ;( I am ready for them to all be healthy and back in school.
We talked about our struggle with tone during the Week 4 Live class, the video for which is here: (Click over to the blog if you are in email.)
So . . . . since Thursday, I have been thinking about turning toward love and putting on love. Here’s the video of what I was talking about, which kind of relates to marriage.
During our Week 5 group this Thursday, we are going to have a guest speaker, my friend and mentor from the last 5 years, Kerri Sasnett. Hooray! Since she has been married much longer than I have and has provided a lot of wisdom for me over the years, I thought she’d be a great person to share with us about words of encouragement and building life into our marriages as we turn toward and put on love.
Here is the verse that I want to have us work toward memorizing this week. It’s a long one, but REALLY good. I feel like it is a great motto for families.
1 Thessalonians 5:11-18 (NIV)
11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances;for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
