Stress

During the Summer of 7, we are going to take a week to reduce stress in our lives. I found this passage in the Message that actually USES the word stress.

Mark 4:18-19

The Message (MSG)

18-19″The seed cast in the weeds represents the ones who hear the kingdom news but are overwhelmed with worries about all the things they have to do and all the things they want to get. The stress strangles what they heard, and nothing comes of it.

Please join our blog hop with your experiences with the Stress Challenge during The Summer of 7.

I don’t have my book and can’t remember what Jen said about de-stressing, what were some of the things she did? Will you have more posted on here to help since that’s our first week starting 6/18 I’d love more direction :) thanks for your posts and encouragement on this!!

I am not doing the seven monastic pauses that she does, but I’m sure that you can google them. There were specific Psalms she used for each of the pauses. I am doing seven of my own, which I wrote about here. :) For all of these challenges, we are not necessarily doing them exactly as Jen does; just whatever we determine is effective for helping us “mow down our excesses.” I’m glad you’re joining us! Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks so much for commenting and joining the readership here.  My goal is to keep this blog and the comment threads positive and helpful; therefore, when moderating your comments, I use the following passage as a guideline.

Ephesians 4:29, 31-32 (MSG)

29 Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift. 31-32 Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.
